Fall Conferences

Hi Parents!

I can't believe that next week is Conferences and Thanksgiving! How is it that this year is going by so fast? I am excited to have an opportunity to touch base with all of you next week and know that 15 minutes will go by very quickly. I have created a brief survey to help guide our discussion during our conference. If you could take a minute to fill it out (preferably before Sunday evening) it will give me a chance to be as prepared as possible when we meet.

Classroom Update

Hi Parents!

Today is the day to sign up for Parent Teacher conferences that will take place towards the end of this month. If you have trouble accessing the link or selecting a time please contact the office as they have access to the actual sign up, which I do not.

We are moving right along with our content:

In Reading: Students are finishing up their investigation of the Literature Circle Roles that they will be using during small group discussions. They are almost done Reading Number The Stars and will begin reading a new book in a small group setting after Thanksgiving.

In Writing: Students are working to revise their personal narratives by expanding their thinking into multiple paragraphs. We are looking for areas in our writing where the reader may have questions about what is happening.

In Science: We are finishing up our unit on Ecosystems. Students learned about how ecosystems need to stay in balance and the importance of Producers, Consumers and Decomposers in a healthy ecosystem.

In Social Studies: Students brought home the results of their Early Civilizations benchmark recently. We are currently learning about European exploration of the New World. Students are focusing on one explorer which they will present to the rest of the class.

I look forward to seeing you all in a couple weeks at conferences!
