ELA

Students should try to choose an independent reading. Here are some new suggestions of great books for 5th graders:

  • Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper.
  • Al Capone Does My Shirts by Gennifer Choldenko.
  • I Am Malala (Young Reader’s Edition) by Malala Yousafzai.
  • My Life As A Book by Janet Tashjian
  • Baseball in April and Other Stories by Gary Soto.
Audible recently announced that they would be making kids books free during the school closures. I love listening to their books and this is a great way to get kids reading more often.

Typing Club is a great way to increase typing speed. All students have accounts. The expectation during the school year is that students complete about 3 sessions of 15 minutes per week.
